On August 8th, Big Red Farm announced the passing of the legendary racehorse Grass Wonder, a chestnut champion who claimed victory at both the Takarazuka Kinen and Arima Kinen in 1999. He was 30 years old.


Grass Wonder’s legacy extended far beyond the racetrack. In the beloved multimedia franchise "Uma Musume Pretty Derby," Grass Wonder was brought to life through the voice of Rena Maeda, who shared a heartfelt tribute on her X (formerly Twitter) account that same evening.


"He was a truly remarkable horse, loved by so many. Meeting him has brought so much color into my life. Thank you for living such a long life and leaving behind such a magnificent legacy. I will always carry your image with me. Please rest peacefully, forever, in a beautiful and calm place."
